Issa Rae Framed Print

$45.00

I know it’s hard to believe, but Issa Rae was the first black woman to create and star in a scripted series for a premium cable channel when her show Insecure premiered. Actually, she was only the SECOND black woman to create and star in her own comedy (Wanda Sykes was the first). It’s refreshing to see shows that finally feature people of color with real, complex stories. Her struggle of “not being black enough” strikes a chord with me. As someone who is Asian and white, I’ve been the butt of Asian jokes AND I’ve been teased for being too white. Sometimes you can’t win. But anyway, she has the best smile, and I couldn’t wait to draw it.

Printed on archival and acid-free lustre Kodak ENDURA Premier Paper with archival, pigment-based inks, the 8x8 print comes in a 1.25’’ solid wood frame with a 2’’ white mat. The full size of the frame is 14x14 inches, and it has paper backing with sawtooth hanger. The frame comes in three shades; natural wood, white or black.
